    Oil in coolant

2011 4.4TDV8, After a very successful 12,500 klm trip from Melbourne to Ningaloo via Perth towing the caravan, car was amazing. We’ve been back for almost 6 weeks now and after driving 3 hours into Melbourne Airport to pick daughter up I noticed oil in coolant reservoir, I have had an oil leak down back of motor for a while, not too bad but knew I had to do turbo oil supply pipe o rings and possibly the oil cooler gaskets, with the oil in coolant it appears the cooler gaskets are definitely on my list now, will also replace the 4 intake hoses with silicone ones. Car is still running perfectly not getting hot and no faults, but is now staying in the garage until I get the parts to fix it, so slumming it in the Toyota Hiace work van😂

The oil leak at the back will probably be the pipe at the back of the V on the engine. Easy fix just replace the 'o ring"; preferably with a Viton version. The oil cooler and gasket are not too bad if your handy with tools. Personally I would replace the cooler and gasket, the engine O ring and oil cooler/gasket are the most common failure items on the 4.4TdV8. Silicon replacement hoses are a great option, I changed mine when I brought the car, saves hassles down the road

The o-ring in the coolant fitting on the oil cooler is often leaking by the time the cooler starts leaking. Its size is reportedly 18mm x 2.5mm so I have 2 in Viton on hand. I can't confirm the size as mine wasn't leaking when I changed the gaskets. Another coolant fitting towards the front of the V is marked 18x3.0.

    Edit: I see that I bought 18mm x 3mm Viton o-rings too!

Thanks guys, not sure about replacing oil cooler itself, will give it a good cleanup, have flicked an email out to a few places for prices on gaskets and also Renseal for the BS611 Viton o-rings, will pull her apart this week whilst waiting for parts.

Does anyone know where you get the silicon hoses for the 4.4SDV8? I’ve only ever seen the 3.6 advertised?

I can't think of the length offhand, but 70mm / 2,75“ inner diameter size silicon hose seems right! If you remove 1 of the hoses you could verify the size. Any hose supplier/auto shop would have these silicon hoses in stock, as they are straight tube; and they will cut them to size for you !

The 4 air intake hoses are 70mm ID x 55mm long and I re-used the original clamps.

I've not seen silicon coolant hoses for the 4.4 referenced anywhere.
