3.6 TDV8 Cranking - Should the tacho bounce?

    Hey,
Could someone with a 3.6 TDV8 confirm please if when cranking over the rpm bounces/shows a reading prior to the car starting?

I have a non-starting issue and am suspecting the crank sensor may have failed as when it's turning over but not firing the tacho is doing absolutely nothing. Have had instances on other cars when crank sensor has failed the gauge does nothing but when working normally it shows rpm as it's turning over, just trying to confirm if the TDV8 is the same.

If a working one shows rpm when turning over with the fuel pump relay disconnected or the like it would help narrow it down!

    Thanks

If you have a diganostic tool then monitor RPM as it will show cranking revs if the sensor is working, but 0 or intermittently dropping to 0 if the sensor is faulty.
