    L322 TD6 NOISY ENGINE,BEST OIL

    HELLO AGAIN GUYS
I HAVE DONE ALL THE SERVICING ON MY RANGY SINCE BUYING IT,IN APRIL.
THE DIESEL ENGINE IS VERY NOISY.IS THERE ANY OIL I COULD USE ,OR ADDITIVE,TO QUIET IT DOWN.
I PUT IN WHAT WAS RECOMENDED IN THE OWNERS HANDBOOK.I CAN ONLY THINK THAT THE PRIVIOUS OWNER HAD SOMETHING ELSE IN THERE.
    ANY SUGGESTIONS.
    CHEERS PAUL

If it is very noisy, then you probably need to do more than change the oil. They are not a noisy engine at all (well, for a diesel). Oil as per the owners handook is fine and you shouldn't need any additives, so you may have some other issue.

What sort of noise are you talking?

Btw - it is easier to read posts if you don't type in caps. Looks like you are shouting

Hi Brummy, I thrashed the living daylights out of my 03 and even after 180k it was still very quiet.

Have you been for a ride in someone else’s TD6 to see if the noise is the same or louder?

    Noisy l322

Thanks for the messages,i have compared it to other td6 motors and it is louder, more since i changed the oil.
Unfortunatly the person i bought it off has moved to europe,so i cant ask questions.
Graham Cooper did the last service,so maybe they have info.
On the plus side the car is great, unbelievable accelleration for a 3.0L.
I just drove to canberra and i had a problem keeping it under 140km,fuel consumption was 10L/100km.Brilliant for a car this big......should be a speeding ticket in the mail this week.....
    Cheers Paul
