    High KM TD6's

    Hi all,

Just enquiring from those who have TD6's with high K's around 200K Km's plus if any..any problems to look out for?

Apart from myself who is looking a friend has spotted a 200K Km + vehicle that is very clean & also very cheap. I have looked at the vehicle & yes suprisingly it is. Drives great, neat & straight, gearbox is smooth at hot & cold temps, full service history (not all a LR dealer, but minors done at independants) no outstanging actions on the vehicle either. Yes it has been detailed & has the obvious signs of wear on the door card, wear marks here there etc but for the price it is worth looking at.

We have a few at work that have high K's but dont see that many.

    Any info appreciated guys.

    Cheers.

Hi sniegy, mine had 180k when I traded it in and the only problem I had at the time ( and the reason I traded it in ) was the transmission was on it’s way out, for the second time.

Have to be honest, even though, at 60+k, my 08 is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned ( biggest problem and now fixed, was the pass side mirror would not fold in ) but my 03 TD6 was a more enjoyable vehicle to drive.

    Thanks Guys,

The only problem on these great beasts from seeing in the workshop & in general are the transmission can play up, the only reason why is they are what BMW call "Fill for Life" & there lies the problem.

If you own one get the transmission flushed every year & filled with new fluid & while your at it do a filter every 2nd year or so.

This will prolong the service life on these transmissions a while longer & you can drive with confidence.

I have one more to look at this coming weekend.
    Bring it on.

    I really need a 4WD again..

Just out of curiosity Drivesafe, what price was quoted for replacing/repairing the transmission?
