Mudflaps fell off within a week of delevery

Took my new Disco 5 for its first visit on a dirt track, went well with the aid of rear diff lock. However I lost the front left mudguard, plastic panel between the left front wheel and the passenger door. In addition the same plastic panel on the drivers side lost 1 of the 4 clips that holds the panel in place. The mudguard is held in place by a couple of clips and one screw. I don't believe I hit anything, so wondering if other have had simular problems.

Otherwise the vehicle went extremely well

A friend of mine regards the standard mudflaps on his D4 and his Defender as consumables.

I lent out my D3 for a week to another mate to tow a camper on his Xmas holidays and it came back on the weekend with one less mudflap, so he might be onto something.

So what you are saying is that the D5 is no better than the D3 and D4 in keeping mudflaps/mudspats attached to the vehicle!

Stiff mud flaps on any vehicle will be damaged or torn off if the vehicle is taken over terrain that has drops that will put the mudflap on the ground. Flexible mud flaps are better except if you have to reverse and the flap gets caught between the tyre and an obstacle - they end up torn off like the others unless they are held back by the likes of a small chain etc.

Best to take them off before heading out.

I was reading an old LRO today and notice no mudflaps on the USA press test vehicles.
Are they an accessory fitted by the dealer?
