Thread: Tow hitch capability

Have a discovery MY18 TD6

planning to use my towball bike rack whilst towing our caravan
Should be plenty of room for turning without crunching the bikes.

Would like to ckeck whether others have done this especially re forces on towball.
Towball downwieght of the van is about 260kg.
Bike plus rack less than 30 kg.

So in theory well within the 350 kg tow hitch capacity.
I note the owners manual specifies arouund 65 kg max for hitch mounted bike racks. So well within this it seems.

I think you're fine as far as tow ball weight is concerned, however you will need to reduce the car's payload by 150kg (for argument's sake say tow ball weight ends up being 300kg).
