Has anyone removed the panel that sits under steering column.

I tried to remove this panel to fit the brake controller seems to be well clipped in. One thing there seems to be plenty of room under the dash unlike the D II

This is is where I am looking at mounting the controller it will fit in the storage bin or what ever the purpose of the hole is ( no shortage of hidey holes )

The panel above the pedals can be removed which might allow the front cover to be removed. The side panel has to be removed beforehand which requires the door seal adjacent to the trim to be pulled away and the tread plate lifted to allow a bolt retaining the side cover to be removed.
