Hi Peter I have owned a lovely D4 HSE, and now 18 months old and 31,000 km the All new Disco with numerous intermittent faults. Stick with the D4, Mate!! Sorry I swapped over! I'm eyeing off the LC 300 when it arrives - I hope it has been on weight saving diet first!. I do share your comments about the nice aspect drive systems of the D5 however, as above - those did attracted me to buy this intermittent faulty model . The Ad blue stuff is highly overrated as a problem --it isnt much an issue. $19 for 10 Litres does me about 6000km - just a slow pain to add to the reservoir - can not use an Ad-bLue pump found at BP etc . Yes the compressed fiber inner side panels in cargo area are a JOKE! I dont have the 3rd row seats (I would never use them - so save a heap of $$) , the lid forming the floor over the now fabulous storage space created with not having seats, is also flimsy. Plastic cheap but shiny trim easily scratched. Dont ever let any solvent touch them eg when removing window stickers or they dissolve quickly.

Sadly I am one of those who really really wanted a D5 but in the end I couldn’t justify it over the LC Sahara.

My wife wanted something more comfy than my Defender and was also all geared up for the D5 but the price just continued to soar by the time we got all the add ons that come with the Sahara.

also the decider was on our last test drive of the D5 - when we were literally about to sign on the dotted line - the camera and display panel started glitching.

this year we are heading to Dirk Hartog and to SA to visit my sister in the Woomera Ranges. We need 100% reliability, so left the heart to the side and went to Toyota.

plan is to keep it for 2-3 years and my sister is already keen as mustard to buy it (being station people the cruiser is all they will buy). Hopefully by then they will have ironed out all the D5 issues.

meanwhile I will continue to drive my Defender every day and work in the wife to think about the new 110 instead!

Its funny how pricing works in different locations because a 200 Series Sahara Cruiser was going to be $10k more expensive than what i got the D5 for.
The only thing it doesn't have compared to the Sahara was rear seat entertainment.
I wont list what it has compared to the Sahara.

Having said the above it is booked in for some glitches with screen etc - apparently there is an update for it.

We were told as well no problem about the screen as car could do an upgrade by connecting to the home internet. But we couldn’t be told what was the data required - pretty important to know at the farm as we only get 60GB a month on satellite.

Don’t get me wrong. Other than reliability the D5 wins in every respect. I have a pang of regret every time I see one on the road. But the cruiser is still comfortable and has great pickup. It will simply be our family tourer for a couple of years and hopefully LR gets it right in that period of time.

Does anybody have access to the sales figures for D4s in their last year before the D5 came on the market?

It definitely won't win with resale values,or maintenance costs.

I believe monthly sales of the D4 peaked at 319 for the month of Feb 2016.
