D5 sales in february at low level

I note that only 115 D5s were registered in February 2020.

LRA has a $20K promotion on at present.

I also note that full size Land cruiser sold over 10 times the number of D5s at AFAIR 1276.

This model must be considered a disaster in Australia and if the numbers are similarly low world wide there also .
    Any one know the figures?
I would love to know how many LRA has in stock and at dealers. To promote with a $20K headline there must be lots.
    Regards PhilipA

Not really surprised considering the high price for a base model. Wether it's what you are after or not , a twin cab 4x4 Ute looks appealing at around $50k Mark. Not sure why the normal person would want to throw another 30K+ for a D5.

LC are just in a class of their own for the loyal Toyota mob, here in the NT you are considered a fool if you buy anything other than Toyota. Whether you agree or not ,I personally don't think LR will ever catch LC with the current crop of clone vehicles.

You will need not more than $30K,but well over $50K more to get anything reasonable in the D5 range.

The numbers are a disaster following the good sales of the D4.Even LR Aus said they did very well out of the D4.

LR were on to a good thing but unfortunately that didn’t follow through with the next model.

The answer to the issue,in Aus,is one vehicle is what people want, the other isn’t.

And one has a reputation for great reliability and good resale values, the other doesn’t.

I guess people are waiting for the L663. IMO it's the logical successor to the D4.

I don't think many LC owners buy with their heads after all the y62 is a much better vehicle and we continue to buy rubbish utes and other 4x4s spending heap to make them capable and more durable...and laughing when they break.

Watch a y62 tackle a steep rocky track then watch a ute bucking and lurching and often smashing CVs or eg Raptors..transfer cases or autos.

Aussies are in a different world when it comes to car choice...we are special and unique in many regards and often shun sensible choices favouring herd and mythological mentalities..eg Toyotas are tough and parts are available in outback supermarkets☺

But good on Toyota for promoting the myths and facilitating good resale value in the process..there's no doubt resale value is a strong attraction to buying one.

It would be a great shame if LR went under...who would dare to innovate then? I see a race to the bottom if for eg Toyota achieve complete market dominance..akin to a Soviet style take it or leave it Lada attitude. Not good 😐

But look at the rise of the imported US trucks which if imported in RH drive could shave heaps of the price and attract more traditional LC buyers in the process.

    Interesting times indeed.

Is it? Is it really? The Y62 has IFS, same as the LC 200. The Patrol forums are saying drive shafts are being changed at less than 50,000. Then there is no diesel option, anywhere. Sure, Europe has gone anti diesel, but the Patrol doesn't sell in that market. I refuse to carry petrol in jerries, the stuff is too volatile, so it needs huge tanks.

I agree they are better off road than the tradie's utes, and any 7x series, but are they better than a 200? I would put them as line ball. The V8 is sweet though.

    Now, look at this:

No IFS, Cummins 6BT, and unstoppable.... well, I reckon there's a track or two, because the thing is so BIG. But it shows what live axle can do.

Tata is rich. LR, the brand, will survive. The LR that this forum is based on likely won't. The world won't let it.

I wish they still made OKAs.

Good luck with that. Sadly. It ain't built for us. But I'll bet the engine options will expand once the thing actually goes on sale.
