I think I can answer some of these...

Does anyone use a 4 cylinder for successfully towing around 2000kg? I'm sure you could and I'm sure some do but I doubt anyone here would recommend the SD4 for anything, least of all me.

Do all the diesel models require ADBLUE? Yes for SD4 and I assume so for the 6. I was getting 500-700 k/l.

is the auto stop-start used on all versions/models and can it be turned off permanently? No.

Do all models come prewired in the back with wiring connections for trailer plugs? No idea.

has anyone found an adjustable height tow hitch that meets the LR specs for ball spacing backwards from the hitch? Not I. I have looked into this for my current Touareg and came to the conclusion that most adjustable hitches are either non-compliant out of the box or in their use. Makes me wonder about the insurance implications.

Does anyone have trouble with the tailgate hitting garage/carpark roof? Can its opening height be adjusted? Yes and yes.

Is there a sensible and easy solution to adding Android Auto to the factory system? My 2018 SD4 HSE had this out of the box.

Can anyone confirm the LR recommendation for timing belt change is 10 years or 150,000km?. is the rear engine belt for fuel pump the same? Can't help you there.

folks, im a retired mechanic and used to working on D2, D3 & D4. Interested in buying D5 , probably SDv6 model circa 2016-17. it will see mixed use, some towing, limited off-road

has anyone found an adjustable height tow hitch that meets the LR specs for ball spacing backwards from the hitch? I just use one with the right offset for my off road hybrid. The adjustable ones are bulky and heavy look like they will destroy your exit angle, just like the "plough" on the D3s...

terryob, I hope this helps. Me, I like Auto Stop/Start and I have not even tried Android Auto - maybe I am not phone centric, but I find the system fine for my needs as it is.

can the rear injection timing belt be changed in place on the V6 or is it engine out job?? I know its a PITA on the D4 and some folk have resorted to takin the body off the chassis!

I forgot to say................yes on my HSE I could set the door height but the shape of the door means the outside, lower corners become lethal. I'm 6'3" and after near knocking myself unconscious a few times by banging my temple into the corner of said door, I cancelled the height setting and taught myself to grab the internal handle on the way up to stop the door only when required.

Regarding the 4 cylinder version my Landie independent said stay away from them. I tow boats so a 6 was preferred for me.

For the Android CarPlay you can look into getting a dongle to make it work. The problem is it’s not guaranteed which one will work. Carlinkit make a bunch and I’ve read they work well.
