Whilst I haven't done it, I understand that the tube is meant to attach to and seal at the top of the pipe.
I want to do intermediate oil changes on my SDV8. I have a suction pump but cannot get a tube down the pipe. I was wondering if there is another way? I will drop the oil for normal changes but for intermediate changes sucking out will do.

You need to make up an adapter to seal against the top of the tube. I have done it a few times with no issues.

OK all good managed to change using the factory option of suction. Will send oil off for testing. Easy as purchased pump flee bay and with slight modification was able to empty oil. Will change filter at normal change which will be at the dealer.
Oil test had better results for the shorter run time, which would be expected. Fe was down and dilution was at 4% which I think would get to 3% if I had changed a few k's earlier which was my intention. All up an easy job now I have the suction pump setup sorted. Pump out and refill without filter change is an easy job. I will do the normal changes at 25,000 k's. I wait for the oil spec to come on special and Buy so not to expensive.
grab an old gas bottle, remove the valve after emtpying it, fill it with water, drill a hole in the top just smaller than the OD of some 8mm truck air line, slip some 13mm ID clear vac hose over the end of the 8mm and clamp that in place. Get a screw in adaptor for the neck of the bottle with a barb that suits your vac pump. (feel free to put a second section of clear near the gas bottle OR if your willing to spend the cash just use the vac hose for the whole length)
Put the 13mm on and push it down past the flare in the extraction pipe head, leave the gas bottle on the ground and put vacuum on it for about a minute. start on spinning your filters checking your tyre pressures...... If you've done it on a warmed up engine in less than 10 minutes you're ready to fill it up again..
And the bonus....
if youve done it just right...
when you're done with it, plug the engine end of the extraction hose onto the vac point of the gas bottle and then... take it to where you goto empty it hold the hose low turn the bottle upside down over the drain point and if you're in a hurry add a psi or 2 of pressure from any form of blower or compressor and done.
and yes, any of the small good quality hand held battery operated matress inflator/deflators will make this thing work... (and the cheap 12v ones as well)
