Hi Nessie,
if it is a diesel, I would recommend leaving the the stop-start disconnected. Whenever I start my car, the first thing I do us push the button to deactivate it. (just my opinion, but I think the stop-start was invented to lower headline fuel consumption / CO2 figures at the expense of longevity of the engine components and DPF)
