Can't decide on wheel/tyre size?

Had another chat with a few wheel/tyre dealers today and all are giving me different information.

The one I'm looking to buy from has assured me that he does fit 275 tyres on 10" wheels. Apparently, it's popular among Commodore drivers.

Anyway, have decided if I'm going to stick with the 10" (my preference due to 45 offset) I may give the 285/50 a go.

Anyone have experience with 285/50r20?
I've been told that they may rub at full lock in access mode.

Hopefully someone else gets help from this thread in the future.

The stock 20" wheel is 8.5" with 47 offset. I run 275 55 20 on these with no issues. I thought about 285 50 20 but decided the added sidewall and diameter was the better uption. I'm pretty sure the 285s will fit fine as they run a 295 on the SVR.

I've deflated my 275s to 16 psi for beach driving and didn't notice excessive bulging, I think the 10" rims will be more susceptible to rim damage but if you stay away from rocks they should be OK.

Personally I would be looking for some genuine 8.5 x 20" wheels as these are cheap and have much better tyre holding when aired down, I also like the way the make my RRS look like a base model.

I'm running Falken Wildpeak ATW3. I'm very happy with them, excellent grip on wet and dry blacktop, good ride quality and reasonable road noise (slight whine that my wife hasn't noticed). My one foray off-road didn't show any weaknesses.
I rate them much better than the Nitto Terra Grapplers I had previously.

thanks Geedublya, how many km do you think you have done on them so far? I am tossing up between those and the Pirelli AT+ . but probably don't have to decide until later in the year. Falkens are winning over the Pirellis at the moment in my mind due to being something like $70 - $90 per tyre cheaper. Also, somebody reported that the AT+ tends to loose a bit of wet grip as the km increase (which I have previously experienced on their ATR tyre) , and maybe don't really want to go with them if that is the case.

There haven't been any indications with my AT+ of the aquaplaning that occurred with the quite new ATRs on my D4 which is not surprising considering the ATRs provided no exit channels for water from the centre of the tread whereas the AT+ have wide paths to the edges. The ATW3 have a higher load rating than the AT+ in 275/55R20 size although my AT+ are harsh enough on gravel but the AT+ have relatively thin spots between the raised ribs right at the top of the sidewall below the edge of the tread, which I knew about before giving them a try but then had a new tyre pierced by a sharp piece of metal in that area that was not repairable, fortunately replaced by Pirelli FOC.

13K since September.

I ran 285/45 R20 and had to put a spacer on the front as they rubbed the suspension strut. Off Set needs attention as the clearance is an issue, I opted for Range Rover Wheels off earlier Model, load rating was good but offset was 2mm different and that was enough to rub.

Update...

I've since taken the advice of many and have purchased a set of original Range Rover Sport 20" wheels.
I had originally been looking for a set (at a decent price) with no luck, but have now managed to find a set of 5.

I'm now tossing up whether to go the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 or Ridge Grappler. Both in 275/55r20.

The wheels will not be on the car all the time as i'm keeping the 22" for general day to day use and swapping them out when i head off-road.
This means i'm more inclined to go with the Ridge Grappler if i'm using them for off-road only as i like the fact they are a hybrid A/T & M/T.

You are doing the same as me, I have kept the 22 inch wheels. Am running the Nitto's but they do have a bit of noise compared to the OME 22's.
