Diving in to Range Rover Sport

Hi Guys I am new - please be nice - so basically I know nothing about Range Rovers, except the general consensus is that they tend to break down. So basically I am looking at a Range Rover Sport in the diesel v8 2019 - 2020. I obviously want the Supercharged 5.0L however its just a little out of my range . I am quite lucky as I have a car ready to trade/sell/consign fully paid off worth around $130k so I will be looking at a small changeover of around 25-30k (hopefully!) (overall budget is $160 - $170k)
Few questions - if I get a Range Rover sport in either v6 or v8 under 30,000kms am I going to regret it! Also ANY tips of engine variants , is the turbo v8 diesel just not worth it being a diesel ? Is the 6 an amazing engine? Is the supercharged worth paying the extra money for a little bit more reliability ?

Then it comes to interior. Black/black is very common, however I am in love with the white/black look. Is there any major drawbacks to having a white interior ? Does it need to be steamed or cleaned all the time ? Yes we have kids and yes they were in the previous car and we have taught them to be very tidy in the car.

Finally, I was offered a NEW 2022 Range Rover SE P400 (with the 'supercharged' & turbo petrol engine) with barely any factory options (no sunroof) for $165k driveaway. Is this a good move to avoid the inflated used car market, or will I just be buying a more depreciating asset along with the first few years of buggy software to work out ?

Thank you and I hope this is all OK to post here as there if very little easily accessible info on these things in Aussie forums.

The diesel V8 is awesome and probably one of LR's most reliable engines, it would be my choice if you plan on towing or touring.

You get the upgraded media centre with a 2018 model, but also adblue.....
There is nothing in Australia to compare/compete with the SDV8.. you need to buy a yank 6.9L cummins to get a better towing engine.

If its going to be a town car get the SVX..

    A few opinions.....
The supercharged v8 is worth it for the driving experience, this in no way diminishes the diesel v8...
V6 and other newer motors are for the peasants
If buying secondhand get as many options as you can find, the options add very little to the cost and lots to the enjoyment
I had a disco 3 with a light coloured interior, it wore pretty well, all leather interiors need regular care and cleaning even black ones, in the end I settled for a black interior as I got an autobiography with all the goodies.
I really like the SVX, almost enough to tolerate the loss of low range.......
Oh, and my supercharged v8 gets better economy than daughters 3.8 litre Jeep Wrangler.

Awesome guys thank you so much for the Info. So I think I have found a 2018 Range Rover Vogue - about 60k kms and a beautiful almond interior with the superb 4.4L v8. It’s going to cost me around 160k - so I think I’m happy with it ! Was worth around 240k brand new so I think it’s not bad ! Once again thanks for your help. Has anyone done any engine mods to make it sound like a v8 or get a little more performance out of theirs ?

Oh also , it’s private car sales deal. What are some suggestions to keep things safe , I have a pretty good feeling about the seller but can never be too careful. Does anyone use a third party to conduct the sale ? As it is over East I’ll need to get it shipped to wA , does anyone also know of any transport companies offering to ship a Range Rover. Thanks!

60K ? maybe due its 3rd set of brakes, 3rd set of tyres and just coming up to end of warranty..

Have you checked its VIN online to see its history?

as above the VIN will tell you what was optioned on that car,, just the name Vogue means little...
it may have the inboard fuel burning heater!!

You can retune them,, but why? (think omg-800Nm-omg )
You can fit a louder exhaust,, again why?
250KW and 750Nm moves 2.7T along quite nicely.

and its quiet inside... like 65-70db quiet. Rolls Royce quiet.

you should also read the post in here about running rattlers around the suburbs

yes got VIN and All those checks done everything is fine. I have emailed the company, as it’s a company car and they have confirmed everything - it’s too hard to fake something like that.

still under new car warranty until 2023 April. I got the receipts from the seller about what options it had , but how can a VIN tell me the options ?
i will attach a pic and some options. Let me know what you think can’t wait to get this baby. In saying that , anyone get me some good deals on transport melb to Perth ? Haha
