    Diff Oils

    Anyone know the spec required?

    Anyone changed them at home?

I use Ravenol MDL in my L322's e-diff rather than the LR specified BOT720.

any reason to think the procedure to change will be different in the L494 Graeme?

No, just put in the stipulated volume after the usual loosening of the fill plug before draining to ensure that you can get the fill plug out.

I've used Ravenol, BOT 720 and the diff oil from Holden that meets the spec (away from home so I don't have access to my cheat sheet that lists all the different oils sorry). Very easy to change. As Graeme suggests loosen the fill plug before draining.

Both diffs done by BigJon in Adelaide. Apparently it was a good thing I did.....
Also a good thing I serviced the Auto....

and Yes.. I did get the Auto flashed, but not the engine.
Thought long and hard about flashing the engine but it just doesn't need the extra...

New discs and pads on the front, flushed the brake fluid, engine oil and filter done.

When you say 'flashed', you mean you got the auto 'tuned'?

I work with a guy that used to work for ZF in Germany, only just met him recently, but we were discussing the old "turbo lag Vs Adaptive gear box" discussion. He's adamant that its the diesel engine ... having owned 2 D4s before the RRS, I don't agree, as they (D4) can come off the line very quickly most times but just as easily be a slug .... then a war horse, at roundabouts, etc. It's the software of the transmission or something else in between, in my opinion. The SDV6 RRS isn't quite as bad, but it does still suffer the same issues from time to time.
