Thread: Thermostat Housing for L494 RRS 4.4 V8 Diesel

Got a pic and/or part no.? I might know of a few available but I could be wrong. It might be the part I ordered a few of whilst at KLR last year.

EDIT: No, I think it was the Disco 3/4 thermostat housing LR073372

same engine. 4.4 V8. maybe
4X4 over east.
Discovery 3 RRover Sport 05-09 4.4 V8 OEM Thermostat Housing for Land Rover LR005631

LR110459 for the lower (main) section of the housing, LR036058 for the upper section.

They were out of stock in the UK for quite a while but became available again early April. You may want to try UK suppliers.

Well mine is broken, and so is everyone else's, apparently.

Roadbend advise there is a worldwide shortage of these plastic Thermostat Housings.

Is anyone else having this problem? If so, be advised you might be waiting a while for a part to be available.

Why they're made out of plastic, which fails after numerous heat cycles, I don't know. There's this material called metal which has been proven to last much longer. Sigh ....

I've also posted this in the 'Wanted Adverts' section.

Anyway, if you know of a source of this part please let me know. (I'll get the part number and add to this post in a few days).

I have been advised by Roadbend that the Thermostat Housing has arrived today from the U.K.

That's the lower / main section but I'd be replacing the top as well especially if the housing is still fitted and being used as the screws from the top into the lower section often can't be undone.

PS My L322's 4.4 TDV8 uses the same part.

bits actually broken off??

was it an instant overheating issue or low coolant alarm??
