    O rings that arent....

    There are two large water hoses that enter the thermostat housing, these have the usual spring clamps,,,
    BUT have O RINGS near the ends.. both of mine were "square" and hard and leaked...
    I think you are right, Graeme, about under acoustic cover air temps..

    Air temp on something contacting coolant wont matter a single bit.

    The o'rings are likely a simply set due to running at their upper temp for over 100k

    Replace with Viton and forget for the next 100k

    I fitted 45mm x 3.5mm Viton 75 to my top hose but haven't needed to replace the lower seal as that is restrained so can't move, unlike the top fitting that moves with engine movement.
