    TDV8 oil pressure gauge install

    TDV8 oil pressure gauge install.

During the engine build I wanted to be able to monitor the engine for a while. Sharing my install.

It's gone together real nice and I'm super happy with the install. Gauge by Namiss in Carrington Newcastle NSW. Sender the same, both VDO units. Chosen because of the large gauge sweep so I can tell what the pressure actually is. Most gauges only swept across the face, and were 0 - 5 bar, this is a clock style sweep and in PSI so easier to gauge actuals. Sender wound into an adaptor from SAAS, on the shelf at Auto barn. Gauge pod is also from SAAS and Autobarn, Guage pod had to have the rear cut out of it to allow the wiring to depart.

To install. Adapter in first.. Then add the aftermarket sensor, extend the wiring on the LR sender and heatshrink. Cover everything in tube and zip tie. I ran the writing to the brake fluid reservoir cover then came down the wheel arch and into the sill from underneath. Picked up an ignition source from the rear and connected everything up.. Ran it up to the bottom of the a pillar, drilled a hole, wrapped the harness in a braid so it looks factory. Added a Velcro patch to the bottom of the gauge so it can sit on the dash Matt.

    Happy days.

Namis programmed the gauge to bring the light on at 8psi, I think..I can't remember now.

There's an engine guard temp sensor just under it. Same install for wiring etc. Just different sensor mounts.

Out of interest what is your oil pressure running at? I will look at mine using Live values with my GAP IID.

As the factory oil pressure device is just a switch, diagnostics won't show oil pressure.

65 degC idle good pressure is 12 psi and 65 degC maximum is about 35 psi at 3000 rpm.

I wondered at the 56psi being displayed on the gauge as it seemed very high to me.

On a cool start-up the pressure with a few revs gets to 65 psi, which is the pressure relief valve setting.
