    DPF life

Wondering how long the OME DPF will last?

Has anyone replaced a DPF in SDV8?

I have 260,000 ks up never had any DPF issues, but do think mine is filling aas service intervals are getting shorter.

They should last indefinitely, but Ash won't clean out of them. So if some of the oils going in are not correct, they will slowly build up. You can remove them and have them washed professionally too. We have a service near home. It's about $800 to have it cleaned. It's a full proper, 2 way wash and ultrasonic from memory. I have used them for work.. Great results.

I have thought of a clean as regens add diesel to the oil, I do change at 10,000 k intervals. Other option is delete, DPF Is about particle capture not air pollution, more a health issue in cities. Toyota did not have untill 2017 in some models.

I wouldn't over think it till a fault code. Ash and soot are not the same. Ash build up won't burn off. Soot build up will burn off.

It is about pollution. The soot it captures is acidic and causes lung diseases.

Ash comes from the wrong fuel, not in Australia, but usually the wrong oil. Over time the oil from engine gets into exhaust tract and never Burns off. Blocks it like an air filter. But it can be cleaned if needed.

    What oil are you using

Question for the learnard few. If I delete the internals in the DPF , and then tell the car I have a new DPF filter, GAP ID, then I would think no fault codes as the DPF pressure sensor works on differential between intake and output. A new DPF would nearly be the same values.

    Any views?

Yeah, it won't work. There is a pressure differential even across a new DPF and the ECU knows how much exhaust it is generating and does plausibility tests on the pressure drop (more exhaust, more drop). If you are going to gut it, ask around and see if you can get it programmed out.

My L319 had one and for reasons not related to the DPF it was a nightmare. I slipped with a 4" cutting disc and it fell off. I had it programmed out by BAS in the UK. Bonus was without the DPF I could lose the EGRs also.

Well on my long journey to understand what is going on I think a sensor is the issue. Have a low voltage reading from GAP , which does not seem to change with revs, Have a logged pressure reading of 36 psi which again makes no sense.

This has been a pain stuck in limp mode , need to find specs on pressure sensor , so I can try that as a fix.

When this came up before it was nothing to do with the DPF , was dues to the now fixed oil sender cable leaking oil into the turbo ECU and causing the issue, hoping this isn't it again.

Was the oil migration inhibiting cable installed between the block and the connector that had originally connected to the block?
