    Light bar power supply install

Hi all, new to the group.
Im in Australia and I have a 2017 discovery sport.
I live in the bush and want to put a light bar or spotlights on it. I purchased a light bar and wiring harness from opposite lock, who are a part of the group who owns our local JLR dealership.
They had my vehicle for the day and gave it back with nothing fitted, as our local dealer reckons I cannot put anything aftermarket on the vehicle as adding anything to the electrics will disable the car..
It’s not under warranty and I don’t give a rats about maybe having to drill through the firewall for the wiring. I want to get it professionally done, but keep getting conflicting information.
I called a mob in WA who specialises in aftermarket mods for Rovers and was told there is a grommet behind the battery on the (aust) passenger side which I could utilise.
Ive had an ADR compliant nudge bar fitted already.
I cannot possibly be the only person in Australia who wants to have better night vision..
    I’m in Rockhampton, Queensland.
    TIA..

Pffft. Sounds like they couldn’t be bothered. A Google image search certainly shows plenty of disco sports with light bars that are not “disabled”.
Others will chime in soon but it is possible to fit whatever lights you want!

I would expect a 2016 model to have distinct low and high beam wires to the headlights, unlike my MY21.5 L405 which doesn't so requires something to listen on the canbus to the lights for a high beam code. It should be easy enough to check an unplgged headlight connector, looking for a pin that has 12V when high beam is on but 0V when off.

Is it really that simple? Maybe not.
e.g. Volvo trucks have an alarm that sounds, in the cab, if the driver's door is opened with the park brake not applied.
Mine spec requires the alarm to be external. Easy you might think, chuck in a relay and a Holden horn from the wreckers. All sorts of codes and a dash like a Christmas tree. All created from the unexpected extra draw from the relay.
Including transport from Roma to Volvo at Wacol and back, the modification cost in excess of $10,000.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
