Steering Wheel Locked - Problem - Discovery Sport L550
Hi
Can anyone plesae tell me the solution to this problem.
The car cannot start because there is a dash warning error saying:
Steering Column Locked - Rotate Steering Wheel
and there is a red graphic showing left and right rotation arrows.
However, they steering wheel cannot be turned (it is locked) and the car will not start with the "start button".
- The front wheels are set straight (ie. not pointing left or right)
- I have tried using a different FOB
- I have disconnected and re-connected the battery
- I have tried gently turning the steering wheel left and right and with different forces, but remains locked, so car will not start.
Can someone please tell me how to fix this?
Thanks
Jobs.

Not sure this will work, but it sounds very familiar to my Def110.
Sometimes I find that the steering gets a load on it when parking and when I extract the key it all jams up.
Then, when I climb in next time and go to start it, the key will not turn.
My method involves a reasonably good rocking of the wheel with one hand that takes the side pressure off the key barrel, while encouraging the key to turn with the other.
Because there is no power assist activated, the rocking needed can be more than one would think normally necessry.
Good luck.
