The bodyshape and packaging is a tad different to a defender isnt it? Interesting comparison.

Anyway LR has to move with the times and produce products that appeal to the widest range of customers. If it stayed with the old RRC and Series style of vehicles it would have been dead years ago. More people are interested in LR as town cars than offroaders and LR needs to address this - the Freelander was the best selling LR and the best selling 4wd in Europe in the late 90s early 2000s - in Aust about 10 years ago the RRS was outselling the D3 so I think LR has their product mix for the SUV/Offroad market but it is missing out on the sedan market so I would expect to see some Jaguars being rebadged and restyled as Landrovers in the future - just as they did with the Velar.

If you dont like the direction LR (remember the company is actually Jaguar Land Rover) is taking then well .............
You are 100% right about the future strategy of land rover.
It is also outlined in their brand image strategy.
The CEO stated Jaguar land rover is in "transition period" and it's main goal is maximize potential customers.
Such as the evoque designed to be appealing to female drivers

If one ever talk to a new land rover owner, you will soon realize the difference. It was surprising to me to find out the the defender is actually damaging the brand image land rover is trying to build.

I was told once that my defender doesn't look like a "land rover".

Ford/PAG were trying to get rid of the Defender 15 years ago!
It didn't fit in with a luxury brand image, yet look what MB have done with the G-Wagen.

That last sentence is a killer though, wow.

Can it do with a Llams kit to keep the suspension up, even half-way to stay away from the bump-stops? The current RRS/RR kit will plug in and should work with just a calibration.

Doubt it Graeme as it works more like Jeep Air suspension in being topped out at off Road height
