						Yes we all know Defender hasn’t sold like hot cakes to industry and tradies ...all the more reason for a new HD design that will.
This whole thread is about new Defender not being retro. As such the past is irrelevant. The potential is clear. Whether JLR will embrace it or not is the question.
I have met a carpenter and a plumber with 130s, but they're rare here, that's true. Common for this work in some countries.
A mate of mine had a TDI 130 for years.
He is a brick layer,it dragged a loaded dual axle trailer all day every day.
His only complaint,apart from the oil stains in the driveway was the lack of power,but it did replace a worked V8 Holden one tonner.
He still raves about the fantastic fuel economy.

						Well since you ask and at the grave risk of sounding like a broken record. IMO, as I’ve said for years now, JLR should be building a new Defender capable of targeting the entire 70 series / G Wagen / Work Ute market - Trades, Mining, Pastoral, Defence, NGO’s etc.
I suggest you re- read all my posts LOL.
How many times do I need to demonstrate that all current JLR models are already aimed at the SUV market? The real question is why does anyone think JLR needs another SUV aimed at the same market???

I didn't know we're in a court case mate, I'm just here chatting about the new Defender haha.
JLR are on record as saying "the new defender leaves the Gwagon in the shade", and when driven on an off road against the competition "it is exceptional" but imo they will win customers from many other vehicles if they get the styling right.
G wagons are pretty easy too leave in the shade as they are pretty ugly in standard form, capability wise they are quite good from what I understand.
79 series work truck imo is not thier main target market, not big enough for them.
No one has said the new defender is targeted at a similar market to other current models from LR, each of Land Rovers vehicles Target a different buyer, and a slightly different market segment as has already been discussed at length.
The orange pic is an artists impression of the defender or defender sport, one of the many, all fantasy until we see the real deal.
That type of car is not the car that I would like to puy my family in and to a big lap of Australia in, something like what I have seen so far that JLR are building in the new defender is my cup of tea.
More capable, rugged and durable then the current JLR lineup, safer and more comfortable than a current Defender and something with current technology like Android auto and apple carplay etc.
As I've said before I can't see any negatives so far with the new Defender from what we have seen so far, still ticking all my boxes.
As I have indicated before, you two guys need to get a room and chill out a bit - at this stage we really have no idea what the new vehicle will be like - there is no reason to get so passionate and argumentative on something that as yet does not exist in the public guise but will be so far advanced in design and prototypes that public opinion cannot change the outcome.
Neither of you, nor me, nor anyone on this forum knows what it will be like - so why so passionate and argumentative on something that does not exist as yet.
So why not chill out and wait to when it is actually released and then all your various comments on the new vehicle can be made with some basis.
