Yep, those door seals we obviously designed by a Desert Bedouin . At those joints in the seal, the inner piping slides back into one side or the other = gap. Ah maybe that's the idea, they are drain holes & not to stop the ingress of water. [smilebigeye] [bighmmm]



And bloody expensive to buy as well.

I read an article once in which a LR engineer said that 900mm is the D5 limit only because that's when it starts floating at the rear. They did in fact test its ability to proceed through even greater depths... after allowing some water to flood in the cabin!

I thought the current RRS took in its air the basically the same as all earlier RRS/D3/D4 with the air intake in the drivers side mudguard - just a bit higher and a bit higher offroad height.

The air intake is routed through the bonnet in a labrinyth which works to separate the air and water before it reaches the engine allowing very deep river crossings and pretty much best wading of any non military 4x4. As previously stated 900mm is capped as thats when you start to float, fast flowing is less prob half that.

Oh ok - thanks now I remember - that is the one where the air goes up through the bonnet then down through those slots - I now remember a thread somewhere a couple of years back where water was going in when the bow wave got over the front of the bonnet.

It allows the engine to breathe whilst underwater and (without the need for a big pipe) to the level you start to float.
They have ensured best in class water fording capability without the need to waterproof the factory "raised air intake snorkel" or fit an additional snorkel.

RRS, D5 and RRV have this, i think even the evoque in 600mm (more than most fullsize 4x4s)
