You would think so Paul, but maybe Duty Free is better priced.[smilebigeye]
Don't forget they did OZ for the Discovery 1 & look what a mess that turned out to be.
The word 'Junket' springs to mind.

Interesting, Do you really think they have improved that much in the interim?
I was "allegedly" the first to buy the Disc 1.5 Facelift in Adelaide, but in fairness it took aprox 20 years for mine to fall down. [biggrin] Your acquaintance was lucky.
But it did only take about 18 months for the Dash top panel adhesive to fail & open up. 12 months Warranty in those days & the Stealer Bastards stuck to that even though it was a known fail & were being repaired for another year or so after that.
It would have been no skin off their nose. Oh yes, they totally ignored my correspondence.
Would I buy another Land Rover anything?
Not as long as I have a hole in my arse!.[bigsad]
Forgot to mention. The Owner's Handbook listed a"couple of million" service establishments around OZ but within a what seemed like 2 years most had been cancelled & there were only a few within OZ.
Some places I struck in NSW didn't even know they were even appointed as such & knew SFA about Land Rover vehicles.
One place helped me out with a serious noise problem but only because the Mechanic was originally from Adelaide & insisted on helping me out.
They had no Manuals or Parts Lists, "Special Tools" & apparently no other support material or knowledge & were surprised when I showed them their details in the handbook..
Really was a 3rd rate operation then & possibly even now.
To reiterate.Quote:

They have had massive improvements.
Had to or they wouldn’t be here today.
Apparently they have benchmarked this new Defender’s reliability on the Land Cruiser.
That comment has been in quite a few articles, but I don’t know if LR have said it themselves.
Now that is sort of admitting something I would have to say?
I wonder if the rear windows will be self lowering in the new Defender? I have to wind mine up an inch or two weekly.
Will the space under the front of the drivers seat be right to slide a pair of thongs in there?
Maybe they can test in Japan with some anonymity ?
