This is the step up from the stock D5 tyre to the one you pictured above Scott.

    Cheers

The new Defender may have better clearance in the wheel wells allowing 33" to fit given that it's not a lot more than the D5 but I think claiming 33" or 34" will fit is premature. Particularly in Australia where we don't tend to make the more intrusive mods seen overseas.

Refer posts 54 and 66 here: Tyres for Disco 5

Photo of the 18" wheel with 285/65/R18 tyres from that thread. Similar sidewall height to the D2 mentioned by ozscott above.
I would happily take that size anywhere the vehicle could go.

Lucky8 run 33x12.5x18 on their D5 maybe they run rods not sure. Im sure its documented somewhere online.

My point is at standard tyres are bigger on new defender than D5, 34s should be fine.

Ps. It's a pitty the aftermarket for D5 is dead. The Defender should have plenty of aftermarket bits though.
I agree, plenty of sidewall and this was the point.

I would say aftermarket is ok for D5, We must remember its only been out for 2 years and we already have 18 inch wheels, bullbar with winch mount, multiple concealed winch mounts, spotty mounts, multiple rood racks, proper sliders, RWC (tow hitch mounted)

Cars like the LC200 have been around for 12 years, 10 years headstart.

I agree the defender will have plenty especially when the American aftermarket hits full steam, although given how much landrover are releasing from the factory, its going to be interesting what is actually needed.

BL one bull bar that looks awful. It's a pitty. It's got very very little compared to just about every other 4wd on the market. A Lada Nova would have more Won’t be retro...Won’t be retro...

Try fitting snow chains on that , then again don't suppose it matters, you only have to carry them to be allowed in the snowfields .

Lucky8 are not a good point of reference imo. What they do is well beyond legal for here.

Not really,at the two year mark, any Toyota would have a heap more accessories available than what the D5 has, there is just no comparison.

Its all about the number of vehicle sales, and to a certain extent, vehicle design.

As we know, arguably the biggest aftermarket company,ARB,are not interested in D5 accessories, for good reason.

Hopefully they may be more interested in the new Deefer, but we will have to wait and see.

Oh,and here we are, going around in circles again

Or do they count as additional kms?

I had to fit them this week at Hotham - and they were a real necessity: I had a slide at about 30ks and put them on thereafter and had them on for the next two days.

NB the fitters in Bright said to put them on the rear because they wouldn't fit on the fronts without ripping out the suspension.
