Low profile tyres, usually P rated, definitely are not safe on dirt roads.
That BFG 265/65/18,in todays world, wouldn't be called low profile.
Its an LT tyre with a very high load rating,a heavy duty off road tyre, thats why they would be using them.
Even the BFG 265/60/18 is also a heavy duty high load rated off road tyre, not really a low profile tyre for high speed on road use.

I think you left caps ON a few times
Factually JLR are on record saying they have been pre production pilots for some time, not test mules.
Because of this the vehicle we saw at Tusk and Goodwood etc etc is generally speaking the final product with some light camo, Minor tweaks to software and minor components are likely up until production.
The car itself is set in stone when it gets to pre production pilot stage.
Things like bodywork/chassis/dash/seats etc generally don't change at this point, so yes much is known.
So what are they doing with the ‘pre production pilots’? Testing them maybe... 😉. So, by definition a test vehicle, aka test mule. 👍.
Call them what what you like, but that’s what I call them while they are testing them. Only once it is released it becomes something other than a test vehicle. If something isn’t working as it should they’ll change it before pushing the button on the assembly line.

Pre-production car - WikipediaPre-production cars are vehicles that allow the automaker to find problems before a new model goes on sale to the public. Pre-production cars come after prototypes, or development mules which themselves are preceded by concept cars. Pre-production vehicles are followed by production vehicles in the mass production of them for distribution through car dealerships.

Exactly - they are NOT a production vehicle, things can and will be changed, so basing too much off the is a little fruitless IMO.
Oh, and there I go with the caps lock again. 😘

Concept>>mules>pre production>production.
Generally there are only minor changes made after pre production testing stage after proving in the real world or "signing off" previous in factory engineering tests. There are videos on youtube and this thread of the evoque and its development. Good watching.
There is extensive testing done even before mules and preproduction vehicles hit the streets.
I stand by my previous comments to the letter.
If people think there is nothing known about what the new defender will be thats fine if they believe that, however its fairly disrespectful to the many that have put so much effort in here trying to find out what it will and won't be like.
If some think basing what we know so far on the JLR on record statements and on pre production pilots is "fruitless" or a waste of time, one could ask why people are here that think that way.
Imo there is way more known then not known about the new defender, however time will tell and happy to stand corrected.
Until then those that care will keep posting up for others new information as it comes to light.

And we stand behind ours, so no difference is there? 😉
And yet again I’ll try and explain that having a difference of opinion is NOT disrespectful in any way shape or form. Wish you’d stop saying that everyone here that disagrees with you is being disrespectful because it’s just not true.
Oops, there I go with the caps lock again...

So vehicles covered in camo wrap, supposed legal action from JLR for unofficial pics posted , photoshopped pics of people's idea of what the thing may be like , and by not believing it all somehow is disrespectful to those who post them up.
I better grab some popcorn cause here we go again.
Cheers Ean
