You can’t. EVs and hybrids are expensive with expensive parts. They will never be low cost.

The Jimny is what the Defender should be. A proper modern version of the original Land Rover.

With only a 3 star crash rating, the're not much better better than most Chinese utes in that respect... Though if coming from a defender, I suppose crash rating is not a high priority...
I can see the rugged looks appeal, but I don't think they are the "duck's guts" that everyone seems to be decreeing??

There are plenty of small EV's around $50K new around the world. Prices will come down over the next few years.
Jimny would be classed as a small EV, so it's totally possible that there will be low cost EV's soon.

Nah, Jimny is a mini version of what Defender used to be, but with airbags. New Defender needs to be a leader

$50 k is a huge price for a car. You can buy petrol cars for $20 k or less.

And a Jimmy is the size Land Rovers used to be. Small is good for their purpose. Land Rover is completely clueless.

    Hi,
    Ain't that the truth.
It has been an eye opener watching the early Landrovers scooting around obstacle courses, blitzing the trailer backing competitions and making everything else on the track somewhat ponderous.
    Cheers

Agreed, while I love EV’s and am seriously considering one, for the average punter they are still twice the price of a petrol powered car, so not an option for a lot of people at the moment. Prices will need to half to make them popular on a mass basis.

And it will be in a totally different class to a Jimny.

    Not even comparable.
