Yeah the generic blobs are multiplying that's for sure. I suppose it's either blobby or boxy! Not much chance of chrome fins and big hood ornaments!
Even the oval or round logo centred on the front grille is monotonous.... at least Land Rover logo's are offset LOL
1 mack truck = approx 2800nm

Am i missing something
5 Mack trucks? Its astonishing really!
Yep, you're missing the gearing in between the engine and wheels which multiplies the torque. The Rivian makes its torque directly at the wheels which is what is being quoted. The trucks figures are at the engine. A trucks final drive ratio is around 3:1 to 4:1 give or take depending on diffs, tyres etc so I would have said the average Semi has can produce around 7,500 to 10,000nm at the drive. This is in top gear. In first the drive ratio would be around 20:1 so it could potentially be as high as 50,000 + nm at the drive - there's a reason the diffs on a truck as so huge. I could be wrong with my calculations, but would have thought they were somewhere in the ballpark. If you only had 2800 nm available you wouldn't be able to take off with an empty trailer, much less a fully loaded one.
While the Rivian is certainly a weapon, you can't really compare it to a truck - I'm sure the Rivian wouldn't survive too long hauling 60 plus tonnes about or even have any of its drivetrain survive more than 5 minutes if it tried much less a million KM. Likewise I'd like to see a Mack do 0-100 in 3 seconds. [biggrin]
