I think if you take a look at the things in the packs that are actually useful, like the air compressor, you can spec them individually without having to also get (and pay for) the useless bling bits in the packs.

Greg has it in one. This is their tactic, spread the stuff you really want over two or more packs tempting you into buying more than one. Often they will not split up packs but if they do, the sum of the individual items is more expensive...it's good that they seem to let you option the stuff individually on the Defender. We'll have to see what the pricing is like for individual options.

In theory the compressor is a neat idea but I would like to know the specs. I assume it only gets warranted based on vehicle warranty. Personally I would buy Bushranger Pro Air or Max Air or similar and store it conventionally (or stick it where the factory optional one goes).

Apparently it’s mounted somewhere in the rear cargo area.

We just did the build from a standard SE,and fitted it with a few accessories.That will do us.
With leather seats.

Some of our gear will be aftermarket.

Those classic mudflaps,as they call them,are actually the first REAL mudflaps LR have had since the old Defender.

I have added them to our build,they look great.

Wouldn’t mind the 6cyl diesel,either,if it gets fitted to this vehicle,no doubt as an expensive option.

You can only order one (or zero) of the headline option packs, but all of the accessories in those packs are available individually. It'll just cost you more that way.

Compressor will be super tidy, sitting just inside the tailgate on the left. It has a digital dial like the temperature selectors in the front of modern LRs and you just select the pressure you want and attach to the tyre like you do at a servo. It does inflating and deflating. But... only 28L/min inflation. Time for a cuppa while you air up.

Why? It’s integrated, full vehicle warranty etc.

Seen several Bushranger units give up the ghost over the years so wouldn’t be my choice.

I agree with most of this Jon, except I quite like most but not all of its styling too. A little bit too fussy in the front styling but that can be fixed by colour choice and probably aftermarket bash plate (and probably a second or third year facelift). And I don’t love too many colours at once.

The cringy marketing should not be a surprise, it’s been naff for a long time and not just LR. Have you seen some of the recent 4WD and Ute ads?

And what’s wrong with logo’d mudflaps? I love mine. I think maybe the point is not the mud flap itself but that the marketing makes a big deal of such a simple thing, especially when the core engineering & functionality is so good and worth making the hero. I’d agree with that.

I have a Bushranger Pro Air. 18 years old. Lot of use and still going strong. My brother sold them for decades. I suppose any brand can have duds though.

I don't like paying over the odds for things that might not perform as well as a good aftermarket bit of kit and which might not last as long. Maybe the advert put me off - all sounded and looked naff. Time will.tell I guess.

Themed accessory packs are not a new thing to Land Rover, the Disco 2, at the end of it's run had the town and country packs.
