    SIM card slot

Just got mine delivered today. MY21, but there is nano SIM card slot. Dealer and I were a bit confused.

Is anyone else’s missing? I know the UK and US builds don’t come with them but from what I’ve seen all the Australian ones have them.

I’d like to use the hotspot feature.

Hmm,there was something in the media about that missing SIM card slot.

You will have to do some investigation.

Which media do you mean? All the documentation etc says it’s still there.

Mercedes-Benz literally had to do a buyback on their cars due to a web browser being end of lifed, I think this is a a significant change.

This is an utterly awful vid, but at 2:28 it shows the sim slot in the centre console. If you have a centre console..

It's definitely a different setup on the Defender. They all look like this in Oz.

However in the Handover guide on topix it says if it isn't fitted one it's onboard. However every other car in the dealership has one. I find it hard to believe mine is an odd one out.

An embedded sim (eSIM) would make sense - like in watches and recent phones. You then program the device somehow to connect.

Is yours a slightly later version than the others at the dealership?

We just had a look at the later ones and they are missing too. The issue is that JLR don’t actually sell the data plans in Australia. The hotspot is very useful in regional areas as our mobiles often don’t get reception even with Telstra. However with in vehicle hotspots we have had good luck.

Reading online, it hints at the dual eSIM being almost standard now. The days of putting a sim in are over...

eSIM is a new technology that's changing the way we connect, travel and do business.

I've just found out hotspot isn't available. I guess I'll live with it and install a Telstra repeater.

Also found out someone else in Oz has had their vehicle re-acquired by JLR due to this issue.

I think Cadogan is a bit of a ***** usually who likes using big words to make himself smarter but he does have a point this time.
