Picked up our new caravan last week, 2.7t axle capacity, tare is 2111kg, 227kg ball load. Towing it home, the added weight on the rear axle made the suspension nice and smooth. The P400 tows with ease, fuel burn was about 14.9l/100km for the shortish trip home.

Looks fun. Did you replace the fuel tank with a bigger one?

Looks good, have you seen this thread as it also mentions hard suspension? How reliable has your Defender been from new?

Optimising the stuff we carry and driving with care seems to manage the fuel economy nicely. Van tyres i run at 55psi (LT tyres) and the car at 50 rear and 48 front. Car has now done 26000km and on the last camping trip, I saw 13.8l/100km (indicated).

Yes, read the thread on th hard suspension, I even managed to loan another L663 from the dealer and drove that for a few days to compare, same feeling, so I think it's a characteristic. Suspension checked out fine, I also did the trick with pulling the connector from the top of the strut, no change. At 26000km it feels a bit more compliant now, but not as nice as the D4 I must say.

    Hard Suspension!

Haven't been here for a while. Finally found suspension problem in late 2023 after diagnosing with the help of a GAP Tool and Graeme. It was found that there was no Damper Current adjusting the bypass valves on the dampers. ULR could not see this on the LR Diagnostic computer. But they did eventually find the problem. Had to wait 3 moths for new ECU. All good now.

However I have had 3 replacement e differentials fitted since July 22 due to vibrations above 90kph. JLR won't fit another one and have voided the complete drive train warranty on my car (engine, gearbox, transfer box and diffs) saying that as I have accessories ( Rhino 4x4 bar and ARB long-range tank) fitted. This is just a "get out" for them as the vibration was there before these were fitted. I have a friend who is has also had multiple ediffs replaced. His car has no additional accessories. I remember that there were other owners complaining about the same thing in early 2022.

Glad you have resolved the problem.
The “warranty voiding” would be an interesting one for any semi decent lawyer to look at (which would be the last resort).
How a bull bar and larger fuel tank (all within gvm) affect drivetrain and engine does not pass the pub test…and I’d guess not ACL.
