LR has created a Bargearse Defender.

It has a longer body but the same wheelbase as the 110.

It reminds me of that commercial "Does my bum look big in this?"

Even in the official LR stuff, you'll notice that the profile shots are played down.

Holden Suburban comes to mind.

why call it a 130?

what does 130 represent on the 663?

I noted on friday that Ineos are definitely releasing a LWB Grenadier with trayback option.

S, M and L

90 wheelbase is 2587mm (~100 inch)
Body length ~4600mm

110 and 130 wheelbase is 3022mm (~119 inch)
Body lengths ~ 5035 and 5375 respectively

Misconception? How many non-Land Rover people (and Land Rover owners) would have known what those numbers ever meant anyway? The word "wheelbase" isn't mentioned anywhere when referring to the old or the new. It's shorthand for size.

So Small Defender, Medium Defender, and Large Defender....doesn't have the same marketing cachet as 90, 110, and 130. They are trading successfully on that part of the Land Rover tradition.

Land Rover can call its vehicles whatever it wants to without having to seek your or my approval.

They are in the business of selling vehicles so, as they owned those descriptors for the old ones, they can use them for the new ones and we purists just have to get over it and move on. I have anyway!

So 90, 110, and 130 isn’t to indicate the starting price in AUD thousands.

Still bugs me when BMW started using 318, 320, 325, and 330 badges for models all with a 2.0L.
