Remote reversing camera integration, switching another camera on to the 663 screen

    Hi brains trust

I don't like the idea of having to use an extra screen in the Defender to view the reversing camera on our caravan when connected.

Has anyone developed a work around to use the LR screen when connecting to caravan/trailer reversing camera?

Was fairly straight forward on the D4, no so sure on the 663.

    Any and all help appreciated.

An issue I've often pondered, bt not restricted to Defenders.
Could the vehicle camera not be isolated with a switch or the unplugging of the camera.
Tee the wiring to the screen with a female plug going to the coupling.
Wiring from the trailer camera terminated with a male plug at the front of the trailer.
    Clear as mud?

The cameras in the L663 have a digital output (LVDS) vs the analogue output (NTSC) of older vehicles.

The camera inputs to the NFSM (Near Field Sensing Module) which is handles the parking sensors & camera/s in one box.

It's a very complex OE system from Bosch, so you can't just tap any old camera into it.

We had the idea to use a spare original camera on the trailer, and tap/switch the wiring, but never got around to testing.

The Clearview camera/mirror setup is separate, but also has a digital signal, not analogue.

I've had similar thought. I have the clearview mirror in mine. I asked at LR when they wired in the Redarc Brake controller, the service manager said they are working on something.

I've had the rear bumper off to fit the rear recovery loops, and I noticed the FO cable from the rear shark fin camera, confirming the digital signal Surely a splitter that you can switch between caravan input or rear shark fin input is possible? Perhaps a NTSC to LVDS converter?

I am fortunate that the wireless camera that came with the van fits perfectly between the upper and lower dash rails just plus the 12v power into its socket and good to go.

Would an android-based interface box with HDMI input (like this: LINK) not work? It connects to the Pivi system over the car-play protocol and runs Android so presumably if you had a wireless backup camera that can connect to the Android box you would be able to see that on the Pivi screen? There are plenty of wifi based backup cameras available.
