A bit of a scare this morning, my original boom box almost caught fire :o:o:(, the amount of smoke that came out of the box was incredible :(:( vale the boom box here it is when I first put it together

the front bezel panel was not fitted and I think I had the volume too high being that close with the camera, but it sounds good, but sadly I still cannot get it to work in 113-372 :(:(, anyway cheers Dennis:angel:
ps you were listening to AFVN clips from the conflict in Sth Vietnam,,.

Today I had been working on my Series 1 project and after mixing some Deep Bronze Green for a few items on that project, I remembered that I still needed to paint the Pyrene fire ext bracket, so after a quick clean up (dusty) it was coated with the appropriate paint

Would anyone know which of these fire extinguishers would be best suited for 113-372, with my limited knowledge of the 'Provo' corp, I would suspect a polished brass one?

anyway it was a long day standing around and fielding questions about vehicles etc etc, at 1330hrs my name was called over the PA system, I had won with 113-372 best 'Commercial vehicle', well I was surprised to say the least.

(Sir) Dennis, As an "amature" you have done a very professional job on your restoration. I have just spent 2 days reading through this thread. Bloody fantastic mate. Job very well done. Congrats. Just wish I had as much space as you did so to do my old girl but alas the front driveway will have to do. I will be replacing the bulkhead on my s2a 1967 hard top with one I got of a 1968 FFR that some clown had tried to bobtail :eek:. Any way good luck with future projects.

We were invited by the Newcastle Rover Owners club to join them today for Euro Day, we took 3 of 8 Land Rovers, there were 10 in all, good weather wise after a freezing 30 mile drive down, yes I drove the gunbuggy, anyway all 3 performed faultlessly

Always on the lookout on how to improve the performance of various bits on any of my Series Land Rovers, I remembered reading about such an item in the S2 forum (UK), a forum user replaced his FW2 wipers with some "marine types', so I did some googling and come up with much the same product (if not the same) so off to the ship's chandlers in Newcastle and came home with this

it's a little bit of bling (but not for long), fits in with just some minor work, and nothing that would stop you from putting the original wiper motor back in, the conversion utilizes some of the original parts and as you can see it is just a tad smaller than the original wiper motor

to fit them remove the FW2 (of course) and using a drill open the hole for the spindle up to 10mm, this will allow the spindle of the new motor to pass through with no hinderance (spindle shaft is 9mm dia) then open up the spindle hole in the alloy block that passes through the windscreen frame to 9mm,

that allows the spindle to pass through with no problems.
Next I bought 2 stainless steel bolts 5mm x .8, 50mm in length along with 2 S/steel washers/ nuts. After a while I thought that I could improve on the idea of using nuts etc so I found a short length of 20mm x 3mm flat bar and make a plate that the bolts could screw into

again to cut a long story short, at this time (Sunday) with no auto shops open to check n change O rings etc, I have used the S/steel nuts etc to hold it in situ, but that's only going to be a temporary measure as I like the idea of the plate to secure the unit, but as always I had run short of 1/4" brass spade clips to complete the job DAMN:mad::mad::mad:, so the job is at a standstill until I can secure some clips, I absolutely HATE crimp crap and I will not use it ever!!!, anyway until I get some brass spade clips, cheers Dennis:angel:

As time/work/weather permits :(:o I have been going over this minor job that I nearly stuffed up completely last weekend.
I had purchased a switch that I was going to use as the on/off switch for the wiper motor, only to find shock horror that I couldn't put it where I had drilled the hole to mount it, so in disgust (at self for not checking physical shape/space etc) I put a rubber blanking grommet in-situ, and started to think about where I could mount this switch!!.

sorry about the blurred image, note the warning light has popped out because of me wriggling the switch panel/wiring around, anyway this morning I had a look through the catalogue from 'Whitworth's' (marine suppliers) and I found that they had a suitable range of switches, I picked out two from the catalogue and rang them, both were in stock, so off to Newcastle to get a few, here they are + the one that I couldn't use

the one I couldn't use (not because it was faulty or anything) is the one on the right of image, I have fitted up one of the smaller types. They came without screws :o:o:(, I was going to tap them 5BA but thought better of it and I soft soldered a short length of wire with a 'male 1/4" spade clip to it, and using heat shrink tape they are all now protected from short circuit etc, it has now been fitted and everything back in place as it should be

the wiper motor works as it should, self parks when the switch is turned off :D;), just need now to etch prime the wiper arm etc n paint them flat black, cheers Dennis :angel:
