Chassis no 25335375G with a modified or repair replacement on the rear body, it looks like the sides have been fabricated as a replacement for the toolboxes normally there, the floor is a workshop floor with a plate on stating 1966 s2a so looks like an earlier rear body, possibly repaired was fitted to this chassis cab, also there is a plate fitted saying it was in an accident after only 9 miles so maybe this rear body was fitted then ?

Thanks Guys, from researching on the web links you psted it looks like mine was a batch of replacement vehicles for ones lost or damaged in Vietnam so maybe thats how it aquired a 1966 rear body as they salvaged what they could.
With the front mounted exhaust exiting sideways, does this affect fording at all compared to a standard rear exiting exhaust, I assume that as long as the engine is running then no issues with water in the exhaust ?

Lastly, On a seperate note, back in the Uk we used to brush the leaf springs with a mixture of oil/diesel or petrol/oil mix to lubricate the springs and make them work a bit better, this was the constant battle against the damp and wet, here with the often dry dusty conditions would this practice cause the mixture to combine with dust/sand and form in effect a grinding paste between the leafs ?

Did not know that Mick...... what were the build years ?????

40 "wide light" workshops were made in 1971. IIRC none were made in 1970 at all.

There is a thread (which I will try and find) documenting the 1971 workshops and I think we got to about 10. I have 2 (178-039 and 178-045)
