My guess is that if the firewall is so good then it has been swapped over, and of course the plates as well. A picture will determine around what year it is

Our 'charles' '68 109 2a GS, has the wiper motor in the dash, I think '68 is when they changed over

The photo of the firewall i have been trying to attach is in a previous thread i put up a while ago when i bought the 1964 88" GS! And apparently you cant attach it twice.....

I copied a shortcut, dont know if it would work.

I will take a new photo tonight and attach it later. Thanks very much for your help, it makes understanding these cars just that little bit easier. All three 2A's I have bought at this stage seem to be different! Especially the 1963.

That pic doesn't look to me like a military firewall Does't seem to have had a blackout light or switch, which should be on the left of the instrument panel, and I can't see a hand throttle, which should be underneath and it definitely is not a 1964

Thanks for having a look, much appreciated. Its a bit dispaointing would have been a great swapover, never mind. Will have to look at repairing the rust instead. Might even plate over it.....

Does anybody know of someone in the adelaide hills that would be interested in having a look at my 109" and 88" landrovers to help me workout what is compatible on the 1963 88"?

It can be very disapointing when you buy a vehicle and told not all the truth about it

You do know where the new REMLR forum is??

If not here is the link.. Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers - Index

You only need to load a photo once

The sun on the mountain button attaches photo's with a URL.

Why disappointing you have a firewall in good condition , the origional may have been rusty & someone has had the nouse to put a good replacement firewall in instead of just scrapping the vehicle . If the army damaged a vehicle dont you think they would have replaced parts. Thats the great thing about series Landies parts compatability & interchangability. If your 88 & 109 are 2A's then use any bits you want ,a 2 you can use most bits , man a coat of olive drab & who's going to know. If I put some civvy 2A doors on my 109 GS then throw a coat of paint on em does that make it any less origional. Just go for it & ENJOY.
