    SADF Forward Control

    Hi All

I have noticed that a few ex-SADF FCs have made their way to you in Oz.

Information about these trucks are hard to find and many questions just remain unanswered. I am by all means not a specialist on these vehicles, but through recent research have gathered some interesting information.

Diana, in particular, has many questions which I will try and answer, or try find the answers, just post them here.

So far I have established that there were more than 20 body variants on the 2A/2B Forward Control platform used by the Signal Corps alone, and the total variants used in the SADF could be as many as 50.

These vehicles were actually used in combat operations in Angola in 1975/76 and further served extensively within northern Namibia during the "Border War" until 1989.

Photographs are very scarce, but what I can get hold of, I'll post, if relevant.

    Ciao

    JP

The highest numbered ex-SADF FC 2B that I know of is 33200482F, which is now in the UK.

On the FC 2A side, I have located 28800025A and 28801025C here in SA. There seems to have been quite a number of these vehicles here in the 60's and 70's.
