my first Landy from a late bloomer

    Hi all,
I just very recently purchased my first Landy, I was led to believe it was a series 11 ffr before actually setting eyes on it (hence my user name.....). But as you can see by the photos its a series 111 2.6l '81 model.
its currently sporting a bikini but im looking into getting the full canvas back on it.

it was rigged up for camping in the back tray (bed/ storage floor) by the first owner post army service, it lived in Hawthorn and was used primarily just for getting away to the bush. The second owner got it to run around his property in Mount Macedon and stored it in the shed when not in use. It was registered and run up until mid last year currently showing just under 34k ks on the clock.

I have had to replace the fuel pump and filters as all where cactus from under use/ dirt. It wants to fire upas I have checked the exhaust clearance and points but is blocked in the carby (Zenith 175 cd) which is my job for today, im getting good fuel to the carb now but the plugs are still showing not much flow into the cylinders.
The more I work on the old rig the more I love it and want to get out and about in it.

one question I have is what dampener oil are you guys using in the Zenith 175 cd carbs? Is there any tricky bits I should be aware of (face mecca whilst having a stripey trumpeter in my left top pocket?).
    cheers and thanks for reading,
    Lee

    You need a light oil.
    I used to use ATF.

    Thanks Cliffy,
a mate dropped by who has smaller zeniths on his imp said the lighter the oil the quicker the throttle response.
I had a stuck float valve which is now working properly, just need to get some light oil to finish it off. Cheers again,
    Lee
