    Diff locks

    Hi All,
At some stage next year I want to fit lockers to my 110 6x6 wagon, has anyone else done this? Can you recommend a brand of diff lock that will fit straight in with no or minimal modification.
    Cheers

Hi Brad, yes I have done it to mine. Put Detroit no spin lockers in both rear diffs. Its pretty simple, you just have to remove the diff gears and drop the no spin straight in. A little grinding on the crownwheel carrier is required. It gives you a little more backlash in the driveline but as the name suggests "no spin" diffs. I also put freewheeling hubs on the rear axle so it only turns when I want it to. Best to put Hi Tough Engineering axles in at the same time. I have a Detroit Trutrac for the front axle but haven't put it in yet as I haven't decided whether I want to stick with 4.7 diffs or upgrade to 4.1 or 3.54. The no spins are a set and forget diff lock - no air compressors or switches etc to wear out!!!!

Either section is applicable for the 6X6 - they have more leaf springs than coils!!!!

I was lucky, mine came with factory diff locks but I have no idea what they are. Brian might know.
I also fitted free wheel hubs to the rear axle.

Thanks Brian found locked drive in Sydney will start organizing quotes, did the free wheeling hubs make much of a difference with fuel consumption?

Hardly any change in fuel consumption but saves a lot of wear on the rear driveline, that's the main reason I went that way.
