Did series III army version have different suspension to civilian models?

I have an ex-Army series III. I'm just wondering if it has different suspension than a standard series III(apart from heavier springs). Like the series II army version does it have extra/raised suspension via the rocker links the leaves connect to?
33" tyres seem to fit on a series II ex army, will they also fit on a series III, or did they not change the suspension due to the headlight fouling on the wheel or other reasons?
Does the Series III army have as much suspension travel as a series II army?
I'm just talking standard troopies here.

Yes like the Series 2a Au Military Land Rovers, the Au Mil S3 Land Rovers have both extra heavy duty springs (see below) and raised spring hangers, with longer spring shackles. The actual location and geometry of the Au Mil chassis and suspension is essentially the same as a 1 Ton Series 3. Apart from the regular transfer box, 7.50 16 tyre size and that the Au Mil chassis actuallu has 2 locatons for the front spring bolts: the raised suspension and another higher up on the spring hanger/shackle plates which mimic the suspension points and geometry of the civilian chassis.

The only issue that you may come across when fitting 33" tyres to a GS SeriesIII is that as i'm sure you have realised, the ex army front wings to not have the cut out lke the II/IIA did. Because the 33s are so much wider, they may scrub on the front wings on a SIII where they would not have on a SIIA

I want 33s for my ex army IIA

The 33" tyres should not be a great problem, the SIII 1 Ton had the same suspension as the Au SIII Military has on the bottom mount and the 1 Ton ran 36" tyres standard (9.00 16 or 255/100 R16) and did not have cut guards.

The reason that the Au SIIa Military had cut guards was not for the tyre size but because of the need to be able to put your arm around the wheel to get the mud from the back of the front wheels when on the black soil plains. This was the subject of a recent thread on REMLR and the answer came back from someone who was on the original trials where the decision was made to cut the guards.

My IIA 109GS was only specced with Heavy Duty springs (8-leaf). As with several others I have seen.

Now I have to go around with my micrometer and measure everything up.

The Series 2B had 13 leaf front springs but they are quite thin leaves in comparison to the Au mil spec leaves and someone else here mentioned that their SIII had 9 leaf springs so my assumption was based on the table and that description.

Does anyone else know if the Au manufactured springs have the same leaf dimensions as the UK made springs? I do know that it has always been difficult to get steel stock in the same thickness as the manuals specify, so we may find the 8 or 9 leaves is a factor of where they were made.
