I was just looking at the capacities of various tanks and most of the APA donut tanks have a 60L gas capacity, 1 litre more than the triple manifold floor mounted tanks but without the loss of space (relocating the spare to the bumper).
Has anyone done it or got photos of one done?

You have to get a specific donut tank built to be mounted vertically. This is one way of converting Territory wagons. I bought one off ebay recently, it sat there for weeks until I got it for $200. I had to wangle a way of getting it home from Wodonga though. I see no reason that you couldn't mount it in or opposite the tyre spot. Capacity of this one is 65 litres LPG.

Maybe you should talk to a local Ford wreckers or two, they might have something for you.

could you run the donut tank inside as well as the scuba tanks underneith to give a bit more range?
am considering converting to pure gas but would like some decent range between fills.

No probs, I would add a second filler, and wire the tank solenoids to give two user selectable supplies, one per filler. I'm waiting for a RRC to turn up to see how the upright donut fits.

Thanks for the info on the Territory donut! I'll hunt around and see what I can find, didn't know about that one before.
I could mount one on the opposite side to the spare only the 93 has a set of subs there, that occasionally work. But what the heck...if I want to really rocka and roll I have plenty of V8 rumble to accompany me! Who knows, I might get lucky and find 2 vertical donuts and have 120l gas and all the petrol and space too...

I've been searching high and low for a vertical donut tank since you told me about them and all I've managed to find is the one from the Ford Territory on an ebay completed listing page that is probably the one you bought bee utey!

I'd be glad to have my RRC be the one that you fit it to if only the distance were not so great...never mind. (but if you get sick of it sitting in your shop in the next little while let me know)

I doubt the vertical donut would go in a D1, RRC has a longer load space. Size is 680 diameter, 270 wide. Trade price of this donut with a universal bracket is around $1000. It should be available through any LPG wholesaler.
