Are you referring to D-Gas the brand or LPG fumigation of diesels in general?
I'm not trying to get stuck into diesel gas here, in fact I just purchased a D1 off a fellow forum member with a 300Tdi on d-gas and it runs like a dream and I love it. I'm just curious that I hear heaps of greatly positive accounts of d-gas (and why wouldn't I it's awesome) and was wondering if there were any horror stories about it that no one talks about...or is it really just that fantastic?
The reason I ask is that my mechanic who is doing the Vic RWC on my new acquisition said straight away that he didn't think d-gas was a good idea...A NON BELIEVER!!! But he drives a Cruiser so figure that out
I'm very happy with my d-gas, it drives fantastic and I just got 900km out of a full tank of diesel (with nearly two small tanks worth of LPG) on a road trip back from Adelaide to Melbourne...can't argue with that!!!
Are you referring to D-Gas the brand or LPG fumigation of diesels in general?

I am still very happy with mine after 5000kms.
I have not heard any first hand negative reports, but a mechanic I know advised against it, but he also said the power gains would be negligible, but they are quite noticeable.
Done my first oil change since dgas the other day, and have already noticed the oil staying much cleaner than before. That must show that the engine is burning cleaner and more efficiently. This was using the same brand/grade oil that I have used since I bought the car.
Car is using 10l/100 diesel and 2.8l/100 of gas.
d-gas as shorthand for generic lpg fumigation. Note to Young Angus: some people on this forum like their definitions to be precise.
Interestingly I confirmed the other day what someone wrote about fumigation, that substituting gas for diesel makes the EGT's run lower. Driving a 2.8 Pajero up the big hill on Adelaide's SE freeway with the cruise control engaged at 100km/h the EGT dropped from 650C to 625C every time I clicked on the gas and let the cruise maintain an even speed.
Haha I'll make sure I'm spot on with my terminology from now on
On my drive from Adelaide back to Melboure via Port Fairy and the Great Ocean Rd I noticed the exact same thing, the EGTs were lower with d-gas switched on every time for the same kind of driving, so that seems like a pretty good thing to me!
i bought a d1 300Tdi with diesel gas and ive done over 10000 ks and am very happy with so far ,
Although in saying that the previous owner paid 4g for the conversion , With the gains you get i dont think in my opinion it isnt worth the expence for the gains in performance you get

And so it starts.
D-gas is brilliant, in my opinion and experience its the single biggest improvement in terms of performance without any mayor mechanical alterations and engine out mods.
Hope Young Angus has a great run out of the Disco and thanks Bee utey for the great conversion.
I know of 2, one first hand from being the guy who recovered the vehicle and helped change the engine and the other from a reliable source. Both cases were "fiddled with" after the initial installation was completed. Me, I blame the idiots who played with it after install.
both cases were nissan and piston meltdown was the cause of engine death. BUT in Both cases the owner or some idiot redneck (possibly the same person) "retuned" it post completion.
I have also heard of some incidents of increased metal contamination in the oil of engines that have been diesel gassed but they were quite some time ago so may have been while they were getting it all dialed in or from naysayers who have skewed data representation.
