    hi guys,
just wondering if anyone can help, i have a 96 disco v8 on duel fuel, the fuel pump has died and ive ordered one and its in transit, i have been running the car on gas with no trouble, this morning it started as usual, then this arvo i tried to start it on gas after a scorcher of a day and it kept turning but wouldnt start, i dont understand as i had it running this morning with no probs, i know it has at least 20lts of gas left in the tank

On a couple of gas cars years ago I have had the main shut-off solenoid under the bonnet be too weak to open against the increased pressure from a hot gas supply. I would have to open the bonnet and whack the valve while turning the ignition on.

It depends on the brand of valve, since becoming a gas fitter I prefer using MED or AMR valves as they don't tend to fail in the heat. Some valves will accept higher wattage coils (12W instead of 8W) which helps a lot to open them. Ask a gas fitter locally to see what is available for your system.

Well its under the bonnet somewhere, connected into the gas pipe from the tanks. It could just have a loose connection. I suggest you get your eyes warmed up and have a close look at the gas layout. Every gas system is different. There is no one standard way of doing a D1 conversion.

hey sammo - you selling her or you got her started?!

if you got her started was it just a bit of wire wiggling or something else?

just curious if it happens to me one day may be worth a try.
