    Which bit is the collector?

I've been experiencing some weird things lately with strange oxygen sensor action &rough running on LPG.
Tonight I realised that all of these issues appear to be occurring when the collector pressure is low.
When the pressure rises the car runs on LPG perfectly.
So which bit is the collector?
Why would the pressure be dodgy intermittently?
    I have a marrelli system from the U.K on 2003 V8 Disco
BTW, the switch with the LED gauges doesn't display full anymore and hasn't for quite a while in case the 2 are related.

No such animal as a LPG collector. You are thinking of a converter? That would be the thing with hot water hoses to it, liquid gas in and vapour out. I've come across one bodgy converter on a cheap gas injection kit, replaced it with a Zavoli unit and all was good.

Cheap converters die because the rubber diaphragms are rubbish and perish too quickly.

    Thanks bee utey,

I'm getting the term collector from the software.

I've emailed the supplier to see what sort of options I have re a repair kit or replacement etc.

    Way out of warranty.

The one you've linked to would work for me?

Is it a reasonably simple swap for an amatuer to do or does it need profession help?

    Would it fit in here?

With the fact that the guage doesn't work could there be a valve sticking intermittently at the tank which is restricting the flow of gas?

The gauge has no bearing on the gas flow. What sort of tank (brand, valve type) do you have? There should be a sender unit at the gas tank which is magnetically coupled to a float assembly inside. Senders get sticky with age.

Now it is much more likely that there is a filter in the gas lock at the tank. Some filters are seated under the shut-off solenoid, all you do is turn off the manual valve at the tank and run out the gas by running the engine until it stops, dismantle the solenoid plunger assembly and clean the small mesh filter under it.

As for your enquiry regards a converter swap, of course you need to know what size the fittings are on your existing converter, how the gas lock is attached etc before you proceed. Definitely requires a careful check and possibly access to different fittings.

Things seem to be pointing to a temperature thing.

The gas is set to come on at 60deg but it won't function correctly.

If I wait until the car reaches temp & under the bonnet gets hot then the gas can be switched on manually & works fine.

Maybe I should set the cutover temp higher in winter???

If you are getting insufficient heat to fully evaporate the required amount of LPG to run correctly, perhaps your coolant supply is insufficient. Changing the water supply connections to bigger ones may help.

This is all making sense now.

    My fault entirely.

I installed a different thermostat with a lower temp & weaker spring to put more coolant through the radiator instead of the heater to help with high temp issues.

Now with a new radiator as well, obviously the heater circuit is not getting as warm & with the vapouriser doodad in the heater circuit it's not getting hot enough with the cooler ambient temps in winter.

So I'll either put the original thermostat back in or wait until under the bonnet gets warm enough

    Thanks
