    Cool '91 v8 O2 upgrade

    I have a pretty basic lpg system in my Disco and after getting approx. 25 litres to 100 kms on a recent Hume run I was wondering if there is anything I could do to improve those numbers other than cutting the roof off.
    It has a (usable) 100 litre tank in it so was hoping for a bit better range.

    Ive heard of adding O2 sensors,,,would it be one or two? How would this wire in? Is it (relatively) idiot proof and a useful upgrade or not worth the bother?

    I do plenty of these, you need a LPG fuel processor suited to your type of LPG system, and wire in one O2 sensor. I use a 3 wire heated sensor for a falcon EA-EL fitted to the Y junction and wire 12V to the heating element. Any exhaust shop should be able to supply and fit a sensor socket to your exhaust. If you cut the sensor plug off a wrecked Falcon you make an extension cable that the sensor plugs into and wires to where your processor is located. Not really a hard job, work with your local LPG fitter and exhaust place. You should save 10 to 30% of your fuel usage depending on the state of your original tune.

    Hey Bee,

    Getting my sensor fitted today,,location? Did you mean where the left and right bank meet or can I just get it put in the two pipe joiner on either side?
    Also, noticed it has a Sprint-Gas controller (ECU, black box, whatever), looks daunting, does the sensor wire directly into that rat nest?!?
    I also managed to procure an Airod LPG Lambda computer controller from fleabay. Would this replace the existing controller, or piggyback?

    I usually fit the oxygen sensor to the Y junction by the transfer case because I can drill and weld there without removing the exhaust. If the exhaust fitter is doing it he can fit it wherever he thinks fit.

    Your sprint gas controller doesn't control the mixture, unless the controller has a stepper motor and oxygen sensor connected to it. It should only control injection time at starting and changeover. Your Airod controller does a totally separate job and requires 12 volts from the gas solenoid, engine earth, TPS input and oxygen sensor input. I don't use Airod products so have no idea of the wiring diagram for your unit.
