    LPG

    Gidday,

Does anyone have info about who to get LPG fitted by in Sydney, and what dimensions those smaller, twin internal tanks are. And of course, how much they cost and any info on performance.

Petrol price is getting to me and I can't trade the blighter in.

    Thanks very much in advance,

    Ian.

Not sure about Sydney, but to have LPG fitted in Orange is about $2000 for carb models and $2500 for EFI. These are for an underbody tank.
I have 2 cars on LPG only and they run well without performance loss, but for dual fuel you need to tune it for one or the other to get best performance (so I have been told). You will use slightly more LPG than petrol, but it still works out a lot cheaper.

Yes. LPG has a higher octane rating than ULP

    Where are you located?

On the Northern Beaches, try British and Swedish. They've a lot of experience with fitting LPG to Land Rovers.

In the west, I'd use Riverstone LPG. They did my first Rangie. They also have a lot of experience with LR.

If you had a diesel, I'd recommend KLR Automotive at Kingswood for the LPG fumigation for diesels.

I have LPG on my present RR and on my previous RR and the drop in power is negligible.

I know Mal from B&S through trail bike circles, and even though I have only met him twice and he is in another state all together he was more than happy to give me advice on LPG conversions when I was looking in Vic. If you're a NSW local he's well worth talking to.

I sought a number of quotes for a 3.9 V8 disco about 2 years ago - they were all around $3000 -$3500 plus petrol tanks if required - there didn't seem to be a lot of difference in quotes between Melbourne, Canberra or Sydney installers.

The cheapest was LPG only - a tank/tanks replacing the main petrol tank with no aux petrol tank - about $3000 - the price went up from there.

Getting the '94 classic 3.9 done on Monday, 60 useable litres tank put where spare is currently and spare will go on a rear wheel carrier. Quoted cost $2K less $500 State Gov't subsidy plus $54 Gov't "inspection", all up I part with $1554.
