    D1 - APA 632 tank question

Have a 3.9 disco now about zero timed.

Will be running on 98 for 1K

The rear 85L EW tank is inconvient ( worse as you get older) so thinking of 2x34 replacing the main petrol tank but range too short.

Playing with a D1 and a dummy cardboard APA 632 shows you could fit a APA 632 (432x625) NS on the passenger (L) side, which clears the R side with dropping the seat

61+(2x34) is getting to what I want.

Has anyone done this (632 NS) - has anyone heard of/know anyone who has done this?

I think you're talking about a D62 not a 632 which I've never heard of. Anyway, I've not done a D1 that way but used to do a few Classics with a short tank above the rear wheel arch. Nothing wrong with the principle but the mounting must be designed to prevent the tank sliding forwards in a prang and breaking the rear seat latch. The ways I've put extra range in a D1 include the 203mm high G84M manifold tank (59 litres LPG) or a pair of 285mm diameter tanks, one 1100mm long and the other 1500 long for a total of 120 litres of LPG.

Finally you won't be able to reliably fill three tanks off a single filler point, you'll need at least two fillers. Otherwise the fill limiters won't work and the tanks will vent on a hot day.

Yes, D62 is what i mean ( diifferent description). Position would be inside the wheel arch on the floor. Hefty frame for tirfor, chains, etc outboard.

    D62 31kg + 36 kg LPG @ 20g about 1.3 ton required for the mounting

Edited to add -two fillers are boring, but yes
