Pete can you do any of the fitting yourself of the gas?
I mean can u fit the tanks underneath, do you have the facilities to do such a job, mehanically mided etc etc?
If so you can do it yourself I did and saved a bundle
I have on my Rangie what u want underfloor gas with 2 sill petrol tanks
I fitted the petrol tanks myself and then removed the main fuel tank and fitted up the gas tanks and cradle. I also fitted the convertor under the bonnet. What u cannot do is plumb it all in and do the wiring.
My gas fitter charged me to fit the pipe from the tanks to the convertor and then do all the wiring of the electrics including the cost of the tank cradle, convertor , gas hose .relays etc
$980.00 I already had the sill tanks and the 2 gas tanks
I got back 500 from govt as well.

Yeah im reasonable at fitting up things ive spent years moding various cars and other things.
i hadnt thought going down that path but ive got a nearly complete system from a EB ford i could retro fit and get them to fill in the gaps. I have a mate who will do a cut down fuel tank for me and i have to wait to get the tanks and i can fabicate the brackets .

The fitting yourself idea is good especialy if you know the inspectors. A mate just got his panel van stamped. $100 for hte inspection and certification. The mate did all the work himself.
You can get a gas setup for the fords and holdens for $100.

With the scuba tanks for a disco your up for more

$4500 seems a tad on the expensive side. But I suppose with demand at the momment they can charge what they like and get away with it. It looks like they want to charge you around $3000 to fit it. The equipment itself is only about $1500 max for a efi and about $1000 for a carby not including a new petrol tank - $900 max for twin sill tanks.
If you are going to go down the under floor tank set up, I would fit the biggest lpg tank you can with sill tanks. Do most of the work yourself and get a fitter to do the final hook up and inspection. Personally I would go the scuba tanks with a false floor in the back. You will only lose about 5" of space and no overall floor space.
My Dad has just replaced the under floor gas tank in my old Rangie - 70 litres $500 supplied, fitted and filled with lpg. The big 100 litre one in the back would only be about $600. Two tanks in this one.
Ideally if you can afford it I would go underfloor lpg, scuba lpg in the cargo area with a false floor (a piece of marine ply and marine carpet with some aluminium legs) and twin sill tanks. Will give you plenty of range.
See if you can get hold of APG direct for price quotes on gear. The price jump these sods are charging at the momment is ridiculous. It should not cost much more than $3000-$3500 max to supply and fit everything including labour. Seems these guys now want $2000-2500 a day for their labour.
Check out a site www.v8engines.com these guys are in the UK but specialise in Rover lpg for some ideas. Another company in Australia that may be worth looking up is Gore Research or Gas Research for kits as well.

Dont bother cutting down a tank, you wont fit an lpg tank big enough next to it to make it worth while, go for under floor scuba's or internal scuba's / large tank.
