4 valve or multivalve LPG on a Disco?

    Hi guys.

I looked at a 1996 Disco on the weekend (same as the one with a funny back seat). It had LPG fitted when it was new so it is due for a retest on the cylinders. I was quoted:
    $260 for a 4 valve
    $360 for a multivalve
That is per tank so double for the twin tanks (-$50 as still only one certificate).

Does anyone know if a ten year old system on a Disco is a 4 valve or multivalve system?

Even if it is only a 4 valve at $470 for a retest then couple that with the possibilty of a $2000 retrofit rebate then it is not really worth anything considering a new system is only $2500. Except that it is already in the car and there is a huge wait for a new system to be fitted at the moment.

Although for $2500 you get the manifold tank in the back. This is an underfloor system with the 45L petrol tank which I think costs a bit more.

It can be either depending on who made the tanks, if they are APA they will be 4 valve, manchester, C&J will be multivalve. I had mine tested last year for $440 for the pair with multivalves. A new twin tank under floor system will cost over $3000.

I rang a few places and they all said they outsource their tank retesting. So I rang an official sounding place in Kippa Ring (Qld) called Gas Cylinder Testing Station and that is what they quoted. So I assume this is where everyone else tanks their tanks to be done.

Did you remove the tanks yourself? Do they need to be removed?
I assume the other places don't drive your car to Kippa Ring and back to have the tanks tested.

If you dont remove them they will charge for removal, i swapped mine from another car so they were out anyway. Most places use a mobile tester and the one i used was the cheapest i could find.
